Never really got around to talking about my birthday, did I? Well, apart from the whole getting a year older part, it was great fun, and I had an amazing time.

We had visitors to our place, our sleepover guests in the new house. My brother and his long-time girlfriend, now fiancée, Ammie flew into town from Colorado to join in on my birthday celebrations. It was great to have them here, as I had not seen them more than a year. Yes, going to the other side of the world goes do a number on guests visiting count, only the truly dedicated make it.

When the brother around, there is always much fun and trouble to be had. It was had. One of the highlights was Ammie's amazing cooking. She cooked special meals for both Christy and I, both of which were excellent. I am excited that she took the time and wrote about what she cooked for us:

I am most impressed that she dealt with my catastrophic bad planning. I invited all my friends to hang out in a cafe in WIlliamsburg in the afternoon so we could have waffles there, then meet up later in the evening for some bowling. I neglected to plan for my special birthday meal. Rather than tell all my friends to bugger off and have a slice of pizza while I had succulent lamb chops with exquisite mac and cheese—made with very fancy cheese from the Bedford Cheese shop—Ammie offered to cook the meal for whole lot of us. It was amazing, and I want to publicly thank Ammie for the amazing cooking. Best chef ever.

I can also give you a gift glance. The great Dremel, an amazing belt and beer cozy (that's a stubbie holder for any Aussies reading this) custom made by my brother, a rice cooker, a new teapot ... I'll stop there, as this is starting to get a bit boring.
