The 20 Hours of a 36-Hour Journey
After crossing 16 time zones, the International Date Line, the equator and damn near all of the Pacific, I'm happy to report that I have safely arrived in Sydney yesterday. Alas, there were no cameras set up to capture my reunion with Christy, but I want you to know, my reader, that I would post it for you if had gotten their act together.
A 20-hour flight. Duty-free shopping. Bad movies. Free drinks. Uncomfortable sleeping. Layover in Tahiti. Layover in New Zealand. The locals of Tahiti played some island music for us while we switched planes. They gave us pretty smelling flowers to put behind our ears. New Zealand does not allow flowers, and they all got tossed into the contamination bin.
What was the first thing I did in Sydney? Let us not discuss that. The second, however, was a trip to the Opera house for a Victoria Bitter at the bar. Oddly enough, the joint was filled with locals, even some Aussi hipsters. Even the tourist joints are worth visiting.
I'm thinking about buying a little Opera house model and putting in all my pictures.

Yeah! Welcome to Australia!
I'm sorry to hear about the trashed Tahitian flowers.
I'm still moving in-still boxes on the floor of the new place with nowhere to put them-and still no DSL. But I'm working on it.
I hope your move, once you actually got there, that is, has been more speedy.
best,
Eric
