Bye Bye, New York

Hi folk. I'm done packing everything else in the house, and it is time to go off line till I make it to the southern hemisphere. I know that I have not been the most effective at posting in these last few weeks, but I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off. The movers come today at 2 p.m., and I'm on a plane tomorrow.

For all you great New Yorkers, thanks for everything. I'll be back as I have too get all my material possessions out of storage sooner or later. And if anyone happens to find themselves in Sydney, look me up and I'll be glad to give you a tour of the place.

Cheers y'all. Talk to ya soon.

Airport Ideas

I have an idea for you if you happen to run an airport. Set up a camera in your airport's waiting area, the one right outside the security perimeter where people wait to greet people. When the passengers arrive, take photos of all the reunions. By the time they make it down to the baggage claim, you can have the photo developed and ready to distribute—for a minimum price, of course.

I would like to have a photo of my reunion with Christy when I arrive in Sydney, so airport people get to work. That or find me a boomerang camera.

Petting Parker Posey's Pet Poodle

I was enjoying a nice brownie in front of this nice Astor place store this weekend, and a cute girl came up to me and had me look after her dog Gracie while she when inside the store to get it a snack. Sure, no prob. For some reason, she did look familiar... yup that's certainly somebody famous. I've never been good at the celebratory-spotting game, but it didn't take me long to figure out that it was Parker Posey. Nice girl, I'd say, and in case this you ever find yourself trying to impress her, her cute fluffy white dog fluffy likes o snack on cooked chicken.

I saw Parker while waiting to take some non-New York friends out to dinner. They talked me into getting up at dawn and joining them on a 42 mile bike ride through all five of the city's boroughs. Little did I know that all of New York decided to dust off their bikes and join in the festivities. Have a look at FLICKR's pictures, as I didn't bring a camera. It was a fun ride, despite the of the heard of people. I slept well last night.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I ran away from my ex-girlfriend yesterday. Yes, that's right, I saw her and I bolted.

There I was, just about to walk into the Grand Army Plaza train stop, and I glance to my left to see the ex, headed to the train. It got in my head that if I could just run down into the station and run out another exit she would be none the wiser. And so I did. I figured that I had stealthy avoided her, but she soon text messaged me, "why are you such a coward? We both know that you saw me-and ran..."

Cowardly is one way to look at, sure. But sometimes when you are rushing home to eat a meal before heading out again to go bowling, the last thing you want is an conversation with someone you broke it off with. Said conversation will not only be unpleasant but it will most certainly make you late to your game. And considering that I'm leaving at the end of the month for Sydney to hang out with my girlfriend for a year, it's not like I have anything pleasant to tell her.

In my last few weeks here, my time is limited, and rehashing the troubles of my last relationship is the last thing I want to do. Maybe I am a coward, but I can live with that. I've got some packing to do.
