Pumpkins, Red Leaves And That First Fall Breeze...

It's fall, ladies and gents. At least it is here in New York. I suppose that Texans and Californians my not not be thinking that the nature has turned the thermostat down, but up here is the first day I felt that unmistakable hunch that it's only going to get colder from here on out.

This is the best time of the year. The decent into winter stirs something up in me, makes me more aware of everything. I guess it's my body trying to suck up as much summer as I can before it all goes away. Bask in the last of the summer sun before it becomes obscured by winter's air. Take it all in before it all goes away.

Scott Cissel and I are going to enjoy tomorrow's sun by removing the transmission out of his van so that we can replace the rear engine oil seal, the clutch, and the throwout bearing.... Hopefully, we will finish in the afternoon so we can go hear some bluegrass tomorrow night. You and Blossom should catch the Chinatown bus to DC tomorrow and participate!!!!!

Yes, the might Vanagon rides again, proudly cutting its bow through the storm tide of other vehicles manufactured since 1985, the year my Westy was born. This is due, in no smart, to the mechanical genius of a J. Bakner, who built a transmission lift out of an old bookshelf and a wheel jack. We need to have a bonfire in Bakner's backyard as cold weather approaches. Or is that against city ordinance? Happy basking! Cheers, Scott C.
