Summer Search

It's been a cold week folks up here in New York. This has been a bit of a bummer after I got my hopes up with all the nice weather in the last few weeks. I've been forced to bundle myself up to go out, when all I really want to do is wear flip-flops.

But the forecast is bright. It is supposed to be all nice and cheery for the Memorial weekend. Thank God for that. It looks like I'll be spending most of the weekend out doors either hiking or BBQ-ing in the park. Yay for three-day weekends!

As I feared in a previous post and as you probably know by now, the last of the Star War prequels is the best of the three, but there are better ways to spend your time. Like watching another movie.

The New Yorker review was great and right on target. Still, I came away feeling it was a decent film that finally answered long lingering questions. Plus Lucas did it with a blessed lack of Jar Jar Binks (did you, like me, have a moment of panic when Jar Jar appeared on the screen and then breathed a sight of relief as the camera moved on?) Lucas could have combined the first three movies into one good one - basically the Revenge of the Sith with some flashbacks to Anakin's youth - and kept it a reasonable length by cutting a few chaotic battle screens. But then, why would that first movie long ago have been episode IV?
